I recently purchased some of this oil for work and am interested in it for possible use in my '06 Cummins, so I thought that I would collect a VOA. This has been speculated to be the Citgo Syndurance / Mystik JT-8 Full Synthetic 5W-40 diesel oil (CJ-4), but the jug lists CI-4+ as the rating (CJ-4 is not listed).
I am not an expert by any stretch, but based on the additive package, this looks like it IS probably a CJ-4 oil(?)
Magnesium: 615
Calcium: 1078
Phosphorus: 975
Zinc: 1024
Viscosity@100degC: 16.2
Acid Number: 2.56
TBN: (not tested; will call about this)
Oxidation: 10
Nitration: 11
Comments are welcome. Does this indeed look like a CJ-4 oil? Why would virgin oil have oxidation and nitration?
The analysis was performed by Polaris Labs (Indianapolis).
Regards,
Gary
