Have you seen a VOA of this oil ??

It's easy to write a web site or stamp approvals on a plastic can or label. Even if it passed the API/Acea tests there are very few groups trying the check samples to see if the manufacturer has reduced the additives or even changed the base stock.

In general terms you get what you pay for from oil & filters, so if you need a real good oil, stick to using ones made by the big players. Even if it was made by a good oil mixer or refiner, many of them do produce cheap base stocks and additives for budget oils.
By a big player, I would include Mobil, Castrol, Shell group (Penn in particular), Valvoline (HM oils only) and if you can afford them, Liqui Moly.

It's API certified so I'd say that's good oil.

You're entitled to your "opinion" but if it's certified which it is then it's a serviceable oil

API certifications aren't worth much. Look for ACEA specs if you can't find what is listed in the OM

Guess you wouldn't use Castrol, Kendall, NAPA, or Advance Auto Parts or Parts master oil even though they are API certified oils either huh

Until within the last 2 years, all I used where API certified oils. No oil related issues.

Another fact in your favor. This is a DEXOS-1 approved oil also.

Thanks for that important info Dave1251

No worries mate. This is a product from Miles Lubricants LLC. It is not a major player such as XOM or Shell. Yet the company is well respected company out of New York which offers a in-house oil analysis program for its customers. This company has been around for 8 decades it has filled a niche for itself and it punches well above its weight class.

Only a few Japanese and American cars on the road using this worthless spec, along with the equally rubbish ILSAC. Don't these people realize thier vehicles would make 800k on ACEA vs the mere 300k+ miles on this swill?

In my opinion API is not much better than Acea. API has a web site naming bad out of spec oils and listing VOA results. It would be good if someone can post a link to that site (Petroleum Institute or something) and the near useless Acea equivalent that never lists oils withdrawn from sale after complaints.

The only real ongoing tests are done by the OEM and you can check with them for approvals. VW are not fussy and list a lot of different oils. If it's not listed by VW and has been on sale for more than a year, IT'S ONE BAD OIL!

If it lists 502 or A3/B4 it's good enough, if it only lists API it's not good enough. If it lists both, refer to first point.

You use whatever makes you happy and I'll use my API certified and as dave1251 pointed out "tested" motor oil.

Have a nice day
