Short trips are hard on any oil.
But if you are driving far enough to get the oil hot enough, then time between oil changes is not really a factor.
I suppose with a new car and engine, you might not want to go more than one year between oil changes... but mainly for warranty purposes.
The oil is not going to decompose in your engine block any quicker than if it's still in the original sealed container. Or at least not quickly enough to justify changing out perfectly good oil every year. I'd say every two years would be fine.
But for a car with many short trips, where the oil isn't getting hot enough to boil off condensation, then more-frequent oil changes are called for.
