Good Morning BITOGERS. This filter was on my porch in a cardboard box wrapped real well. All was wrote was “4,200 miles with unknown bulk 5w20”. I’m guessing it’s for a XG 3614 app like some fords or….

Shame that this piece of filth is cheap and Made in Mexico; haha, yeah quality isn’t a priority.

I’m not that stupid to tear a oil filter media for kicks. Shoddy manufacturing caused the tears

I'm not implying that at all just to be clear. You mentioned it was left on your porch so I assumed it might of bounced around and possibly damaged. If you're confident that never happened then I agree it's a crappy filter that should have never torn at that mileage. Thanks

The chances of this happening are like me seeing god

🤣🤣

IMO it’s odd that someone even thinks the filter was messed up after removal. All filters I get mailed to me none have been dented, destroyed. Obviously folks take my advice on how to package them and ship to me

Just a dumb mechanics thoughts

A little internet searching shows that Mighty of Peachtree Corners, GA, is currently owned by Gonher Group, a firm in Mexico.
Gonher just happens to make "OE Quality" (their words, NOT mine) automotive filters in Mexico... which Mighty acts as a distributor for in the US.

I think I've seen enough here.... LOL. Apparently, this thing was a Gonher brand filter.

Is Gonher pronounced like goner? ;)

It "could have" torn after removal but we may never know for sure. Thanks for the post.
Highly doubt it ... and bet a filter could be thrown against a wall a dozen times and the media inside isn't going to tear. Wide pleat spacing and delta-p bending the pleats sideways was the cause.

Unless I’m losing it; think I took off a black mighty filter that was ECORE. Was off a 20’ Ram with 6.4 HEMI. Auto extra 57060 went on with Service Pro 0w40

I crushed it instead of curing it apart but was made 3 months ago so….
