Michelin CrossClimate2 wear concerns

Yep! Spent plenty $$$ on the set at Costco for our Prius V. Wore outer edges much faster. Got about 27k before started getting into secondary rubber. Costco wouldn’t do anything because Michelins written policy says have to be worn evenly across the tread. Michelin wouldn’t do anything because it has to go through an authorized retailer. Costco is one, but since they pointed the finger and Michelin and said I had to deal with them directly, I was out of luck. Still fairly upset about that. Had proof of alignment, rotation, balancing. I got stuck paying full price for the replacement set of tires.

How is it a Michelin issue when a customer doesn't inflate properly and/or has an alignment issue?

I have a friend who drives a lot of miles and she has a new set of CC2s. I’ll keep an eye on them. 4 cyl Camry so it’s not a very heavy vehicle or torque monster.

The Highlander is a pretty heavy vehicle. The Cross Climate 2 would not be the tire I would pick for that particular vehicle. The Defender would be a much better fit.

I run them on a 2015 Pilot not very worn in 35k miles. I presume it’s “heavy”.

I got my 28,000 mile set pro rated very easily from Discount Tire. They took a look, put it up on the alignment rack and told me they were replacing the set. Easy peasy.

Almost 19k on a set of CC2’s on the CX50 and the wear is even and minimal across all 4. Rotated every 8k based on the roads we drive. Door tag says to set “cold” pressures to 36psi. I set them to 35psi.
On rough pavement, they can be a little noisy. On smooth pavement, they’re quiet. In the rain, and I mean heavy rain, they’re outstanding! In the snow we had last winter, they were outstanding! It was a heavy, wet snow as well!

So far, they’re what I expected with a tire that has an aggressive tread pattern like that.
I stay on top of pressures too. If there’s a swing one way or the other, I adjust accordingly. We can have wild temperature swings in early spring and late fall.
I guess I’ll see what happens in the next 10-20k.
