10-15 hrs on the filter. 115 hp engine. The filter seemed alright, but I wasn't thrilled with the nitrile ADBV. No oil ran out during removal and it wasn't pliable after dissection. Reinstalled another Mercury filter, but I'm going to try finding a better filter again. It's hard finding filters for boat engines for whatever reason.

First time changing the oil in an outboard, but this one appeared pretty simple and straight forward. The filter was on way too tight hence me having to improvise with the closest thing to a filter wrench I could find. I also like the catch can with plug below the filter. Very clean process. I didn't get a picture, but the dipstick has a very wide "safe" range. The engine holds 5.5 quarts.

Putting 35-8M0065104 into Fram's cross reference tool, it looks like any Fram "7317" sized/type filter (or other brands) would work on that engine. Tons of filters that meet that cross reference.

Thanks a lot!

Louvers, holes, wire backed media? It's a Champ Labs product. Pleats look straight enough, almost doesn't look like cellulose blend.

I have an 07 115HP Merc and I run the Fram orange filter on it. The only problem I have is that the dipstick seems to hang up on the filter and it is difficult to check the oil even though it doesn't use any. I will probably try the Fram Ultra this fall. I always put brand new oil and use a new filter when I store it for the winter. I always use a synthetic oil and it's a 5-30 or 5-40 synthetic. These Mercury 4 strokes are very easy to service and the motors seem very durable. I did have to put a new starter on mine for some reason. Cost me about $850.00 for a marine shop to do it.
