Just finished doing an oil change on my 2018 E300 and decided to post some filter pics. This is a MANN filter purchased from the dealership (yeah, $18.00) and the replacement filter is the same. This filter was in service for 22 months, but has only 4000 miles on it, so a lot of short trips. I was a little bit concerned about the seam in the filter media, and was happy to see that it was completely sealed up on the inside of the media.
Oil used was Ravenol FDS 5w-30 (MB 229.6) it uses right at 6.5 liters. The replacement oil is the Ravenol VST 5w-40 (MB 229.5).

I could see no indication of dirt or debis on the outside of the filter media. Overall very happy with the filter as well as the oil.
Sorry, no UOA to include.

Looks good!

You can get the MANN filter from amazon for about $6-7 each, maybe even cheaper from rockauto if you buy several. I let the dealership do the 10K oil changes on the wife's 300E (prepaid service plan) and I do an extra one in between, so oil gets changed every 5K. They use the Mobil 1 5W-40 - I use Mobil 1 0W-40...both MB 229.5

Any preference of Mann vs Mahle?

I've used Mann and Mahle filters before and frankly while they've been adequate I've actually been pleasantly surprised by K&N's cartridge filters. Two years ago I used a K&N PS-7004 on my Mercedes engine for 10,000 miles and it came out looking great with no issues. They're built very well and commonly available at Walmart stores for a decent price. I would happily use one again.

I have just been getting the Mann filters at the dealership. That will likely change though, I don't feel like paying $18.00 for a filter anymore, and that price will likely increase. Just figured if that's what Mercedes uses, I'd use them too.
