Memory stick

I have been trying to get a new memory stick to work in my HP pc with xp os.
No matter what I do, the pc thinks it's a disc drive and asks for a disc.
I can'even format it.
Any ideas.

Not saying it will work but try an older memory stick or lower gb.

Have you ever had a stick work with this computer? You may need to update your mass storage driver.

I agree with eljefino - check for driver updates from HP. If it's an old PC then the last driver updates are years old, but still newer than the drivers shipped with the PC.

If it is XP or later you shouldn't need any drivers for mass storage devices.

When you say memory stick, are you talking Sony Memory Stick from a Sony camera, or just a general USB flash drive?
