Being staff / former staff on other web forums, I can relate… It amazes me what some people will type and send. And I assure you, the offensive, personal, nasty, and often childish invective I’ve seen in PMs would shock you guys.

That's the guy. He's still active on Garage Journal, so who knows, maybe something happened to cause him to leave here. I recall he boasted once that he was on something like a thousand forums, so it's probably tough to keep up with all of them.First guy sounds like Atikovi. He is a used car salesguy that seemed to buy, fix, and sell cars for profit as his main source of income. He posted pictures of his cars in front of a fancy house in, I think, Washington DC. His exploits were very interesting and often humorous. Something must have happened and he left one day and didn't return.
Was he the one with the Volvo with the long-overdue timing belt and the belief that an "Italian Tune Up" will cure almost any automotive ills?GearHeadTool was a special case. He had many, many identities on the site.
I miss the transmission rebuild in the bathtub posts.First guy sounds like Atikovi. He is a used car salesguy that seemed to buy, fix, and sell cars for profit as his main source of income. I believe when you search for a person's user name and it does not come up, it means they got the boot. That's the guy. No, no. Transmission rebuild was on the kitchen table. The bathtub was used for tire storage. As I told him, he'd make more money filming his exploits for YouTube. I miss hearing about his adventures.I miss the transmission rebuild in the bathtub posts.
Yes.Was he the one with the Volvo with the long-overdue timing belt and the belief that an "Italian Tune Up" will cure almost any automotive ills?
Here. Traveling, so bit out of touch until next week. Also has anyone seen @BMWTurboDzl or @edyvw recently?
Folks - people who you “don’t see” anymore may be posting, but you’re not seeing them.
But if they’re truly not posting anymore, there are three broad categories:
1. They’ve passed away, e.g Blue Oval Fitter, who passed away at a relatively young age.
He had the astro van that was modified into some sort of farm vehicle for his florida plantation? One of my favorites from the past was GreeCGuy (sp?). I think he was older, and haven't seen him for years so he may not be with any longer.
His stories were hilarious.
Yikes! I didn't know he died. He used to do free oil changes for retirees right?
