Meguiar's #20

What do you guys think of Meguiar's #20? I had my favorite detail shop put a coat of this stuff on my car yesterday and was curious as to how it compares to #26 in terms of durability? I normally get them to do #26 for me, but they gave me #20 for the same price as #26 (normally the #20 and #21 is $40 more) They were going to use the #21, but they said the batch they've got there right now is one of the bad ones (it is all watery, I know this has been discussed on the Meguiar's forum)

It appears to me that #20 does a slightly better job of hiding the swirls compared to #26. It seems to be about on par with NXT (that's what I use in the warmer months when I'm able to do my own waxing)

I like 20 quite a bit, but for overall shine and durability 21 is the only thing I use any more. Unless I'm going for that extra oomph just before a show, then I'll top 21 with some 16 (which is no longer made but I happen to have 2 cans in my detailing arsenal!!)

Hiding swirls I couldn't tell you about....I polish mine out with 80 before applying my LSP.

I don't know whey they would charge $40 more for #20 than #26. They both take the same amount of time to apply, and the cost of the product itself is insignificant.

I agree totally! For regular customers like me they will often give us the higher priced package for the lower price though.

But in general, the #20 and #21 are listed under the paint sealant package, while the #26 is listed just as a wax. This detail shop is a franchise, there are about 30 locations in Ontario, so the prices are set by the head office. But as mentioned, regular customers like me will get special deals on a lot of their services.

There is a guy who goes there every week at the same time as me who has a black 2004 AMG Mercedes SL55 and every second week he gets them to throw on a coat of #21, and they only charge him $30 to do it!

I've seen this quite a bit and the only thing I can think of is that a polymer or synthetic sealant will last longer than a carnauba, so they charge more for it. Either that or they just play on the term "sealant" and sell it as some super new high tech magical protectant. Which doesn't exist, but the general public can be pretty gullible!!

I went through a bottle of #26 on my black '02 Accord as well as my other car & family cars. I am about 1/2 through a bottle of #20 on the same vehicles. The #20 has had more durability vs. #26 for my cars parked outside in the Alabama weather all the time.

M20 is good...Liquid Glass is better. Acrylic sealants may be 'old' technology but there's a reason LG is still on the shelves.

I love my meguiar's but i have been testing LG and so far, I can't find flaws.....
