Mechanic put 10w50 in my Subaru

There are no pcmo 10W-50’s over here at all anymore (Canada). The only 10W-50’s you see are motorcycle oils. The last time we had a 10W-50 for cars was probably the early 1980’s.
That said, it is probably a high-quality synthetic used, and I would definitely use in your turbo engine without an issue!

I just told him to put in what he thinks is best for the car this was after he’s done a full health check...he is one of the most respected Subaru mechanic and engine builder/tuner in the UK so I’m sure he’s done it for a reason and he knows what he’s doing....
Uhhh, well that kinda changes everything. He did what you told him to do, trusting his opinion and expertise, then you second guess him here ? Plenty of Subaru folks are saying this oil is fine too.

Yeah I was all right with it until I’ve spoken to my dad who’s opinion I also respect when it comes to stuff like this so he’s just put some doubt in my mind... just wanted to get some reassurance that’s all....

Subaru engines never likes thin oils, a heavier oil was always good for them. A Euro spec 5W30 or A3/B4 0W40, 5W40, 10W40, 5W50, 10W50, 10W60 is all good for these.
Using spec Cafe oils sometimes results in the oil light flickering at idle, if you really want to run this oil the oil pump can be bumped up from a 10mm to an 11 or 12mm depending on the engine but to what end, just use a heavier oil. JM2C

Fuchs Titan Race Pro is quite popular with car enthusiasts here in the UK and it gets recommended a lot I have no doubt is excellent stuff was just unsure about the 10W50 rating as now a days everyone always seems to recommend the 0W as being best thing since sliced bread...

An interesting fact I found out today is that Hartech ( Porsche engine specialists re-builders in the uk ) part of their warranty terms is to only use Millers Nanodrive CFS 10w50 NT in their rebuilt engines otherwise you’ll void warranty...

Sheesh, doesn't 10w50 in an engine bulit in the last 30 years seem like something just isn't right... like they're trying to band aid an engine design problem?
