Wow!!!! All that technology and simple toggle switch's for ignition / fuel pumps. The driver's cockpit looks so unsafe compared to today's. I laughed when he was talking about the tires sticking to the floor. Great video!!!
I used to love getting up early in the morning(~06:00) and watch F1. Senna my favorite driver and I was really into Honda at that time. As the matter of fact, F1 is what sold me on Honda vehicles.
I recently went to a McLaren event in Chicago. They had a nice collection of vintage McLaren cars on display. My eye was partial to the all visible carbon cars. Such beautiful pieces of work. Sorry for the poor lighting.
Back in the turbo era of F1 teams would tie or force the wastegates shut, then run the fastest lap possible. After coming in they'd switch out the engine for a new one for the race. Crazy what was considered safe and "cutting edge ".

It sounds like you had a great time at the McLaren event in Chicago! McLaren is known for producing some of the most advanced and high-performance vehicles in the world, and their vintage cars are certainly no exception. The use of carbon fiber in the construction of these cars allows for a lightweight and strong structure that is ideal for high-performance applications. The all visible carbon finish is also a distinctive and eye-catching feature that adds to the overall appeal of these cars. It is not surprising that you were drawn to these beautiful pieces of automotive engineering.
