McDonald's app

They remind me of Sears. From 2016 to about 2021, they were giving EVERYTHING AWAY. Free large fries with a $1 purchase--c'mon. Everything was BOGO. Free Chicken sandwich when the Phillies win. Free Big Mac when the Eagles win. They dropped the hammer in 2023. Free this with $2 purchase now. Until about 2 weeks ago, free LARGE fries with $2 purchase. Now medium. This is I suppose how they hook customers--but really does show intelligence too. They were willing to take losses for years, 1X per day, or 1X per week, depending. Look at Domino's. Large 1 topping for $4.99 after you get the $3 tip coupon? :ROFLMAO:

Had a weird experience today. I didn’t check carefully and sent a mobile order via the McDonald’s app. But I forgot to check the location and it sent it to the previous location that I used. It was an app deal for free fries (up to once daily) with the order of a drink, so I’m only out the $1 and tax that a small soda costs. It usually automatically changes the location automatically, but then I noticed it wasn’t the right one after I approved payment.

But then I could just use my rewards points for something else free even though I placed a previous order with a coupon (BK’s app doesn’t allow a new coupon or rewards redemption for an hour after any coupon or rewards redemption). I prefer to use the kiosk at McDonald’s, but this deal is weird where the kiosk just goes to a blank screen when it’s time to choose the size of fries. I’ve only been able to use this deal successfully via a mobile order.

I asked an employee (where I was) if there was anything that could be done and he said not really. I’m not sure the order will be made if I don’t get close to the location where it was placed. But this employee said I should try canceling, but it’s too late.

Looks like the order was cancelled for not showing up. I got a notice that it may take a few days for the transaction to go from pending to completely canceled. Strike that. Checked my account and the transaction got wiped.

I did a mobile order for a different fast food chain once and it did take my money when I ordered for the wrong location and didn’t pick it up,

happened to me once and my understanding is that it's not able to be canceled and no refunds either. So I went to the wrong location.

I feel the deals are getting more and more to be "not deals." But maybe it is genius marketing. For years (around 2015) give away free stuff all the time, get people to use the app, and years into the future, maybe 7, start pulling back the deals to almost nothing. Now, there will be loyal customers who use the app, streamlining the entire service process.

btw for those of you who feel you can always dispute things via credit card, I can tell you from experience, both JPM and BAC both denied legitimate claims where we tried to settle things thorough the merchant. Since I'm principled or so I say, I no longer use the BAC credit card. I am also a shareholder and if I ever get around to it I'll sell my shares. What a terrible bank (whenever Warren Buffet went in, I did, only I didn't get out lol)

I pretty much refuse to go somewhere where the only deals are on the app. If I can't drive/walk up and order something without futzing around with my phone for five minutes I'm just going to go somewhere else.
Well thats the world is heading. If you use mcdonalds the app is a no brainer. No waiting at the counter. You save money every time you go there.

To the OP: Make sure you are on the McDonalds WiFi

This is the message I got via email. It’s different bits and pieces so I’m trying to assemble it so it makes sense.

Hi y_p_w,
We canceled your order - looks like it hit a snag along the way.
You may see a pending charge on your card which typically drops from your account the next business day but could take up to 5 business days based on your bank. If you do not see the pending charge removed from your account after 5 business days, please contact your bank.
And no worries! Any deals, reward items or bonus offers applied to this order will be reapplied to your McDonald's app for you to redeem on your next pickup or McDelivery® order, based on availability.
We're sorry for any inconvenience and look forward to serving you in the future.
Regards,

Your order has been canceled due to a time-out and will be refunded.

The deal was put back where I could have used it that day if I’d wanted. I checked my account again, and the transaction is still there listed as pending. What I saw yesterday was where three pending transactions weren’t listed.

And get off my lawn.....the demographics on this forum just shine some times!

I notice in store apps or when you’re in the vicinity the apps don’t work right there’s probably a catch
