MB Genuine Fleece Oil Filters

The OEM filter for the engine appears to be Mann HU 821x. This is a paper filter. I am not aware of a fleece alternative for this application.

How frequently are you changing the oil/filter on this car? This paper filter is very good and should not be a problem for 10K miles (16K KM) or even more.

When it comes to getting genuine MB parts, fleece is definitely the right word.

I change oil of the car every 12000 kms...And I just use the Genuine MB parts, nothing else, because Mercedes Benz garage here does all the maintenance....

But MB says when using and 229.51 approved oils a fleece filter must be used otherwise the engine parts would be out of warranty

little bit confusing, if MB won't sell any Fleece filters how shall we use it????

This may again have to do with extended oil change intervals. If I'm not mistaken, with a 229.51 oil, MB allows some of their cars to go as far as 20-25k km between changes. And supposedly the fleece media helps them achieve it, so that may be why such filter is mandatory on those specific cars that are still under warranty.

If you're changing it every 12k km, then there is probably no issue.

For what it's worth, my 530i uses a similar paper filter as the OEM for your W211, and I've been changing it every 16k km without any problems. My engine is not diesel though. Do diesels clog up the filters faster?

No in CYPRUS that's the service intervals...Every 12,000

The weather is too hot in summer like 50-55 degrees Celcius, also you can cook on the V6 Turbocharged engines like w211 280 and 320 CDIs in summer...

That much hot decreases the lifetime of the parts, oil, filters...Everything...Even people

haha... I've been to Ayia Napa area once during Summer and don't remember it being this hot. It was certainly not any hotter than Florida.

Try these forums, they may have some info about fleece oil filter for W211 E280 CDI.

I used both paper and fleece filter in my E430 for 12-13k miles OCI. When I changed oil and filter I didn't see any debris on either filter and condition was very good on both. I think both filters(paper and fleece) can be in service for double that mileage(24-25k miles or more).

For warranty reason, you should use either fleece filter, if you can find one, or MB filter part# 642 180 00 09
