Also, even though the interval is fixed, the vehicle was to know which oil is being used. I found this to rather fascinating.

I wonder if it does anything with that information or if it's purely to help push people to use MB spec oils.

Perhaps both reasons? Would be neat to know for certain. That is a cool feature if it does incorporate a mileage plan according to which specification.

We had been buying ROWE drums for the longest time for our bulk oil however the pricing had went up a bit. I now buy M1 from Walmart. When I told the ROWE rep his first response was well our oil is made in Germany.
