just got the message today. unfortunately it will not be available from Mazda, but will be from Ford. the part number is VC-10-A2, no pricing info yet.

its the new coolant that Mazda is using and Ford recently started using. its Dark Green in color. from Mazda it is only available in a 55/45 premix.

im not sure how soon dealers will have this. i just checked stock on my 2 motorcraft suppliers (can only order coolant from Ford direct in pallet quantities) and none have it yet.

Is this coolant available now, price?

Does this mean that Ford is moving away from silicated G-05 to a non silicated coolant similar to the Asian coolants for their factory fill?

Just wondering.

I do think that non-silicate are probably the future for Ford. Isn't the Mazda coolant a rendition of the other Japanese phosphate, sebacate coolants? I think it's great that Ford is going to offer FS but I think before anyone mmoves away from G-05 they should wait and see if Ford back specs it first. We really don't know that the sebacic acid formula has any better long-term compatibilty with gaskets than Dexcool does.

The only information I have on this coolant states:
Use only when specified. Do not use this product in systems originally equipped with any green-colored, conventional engine coolant such as Motorcraft® Premium Engine Coolant, meeting Ford Specification ESE-M97B44-A, or with the yellow-colored, longer-life Motorcraft® Premium Gold Engine Coolant, meeting Ford Specification WSS-M97B51-A1, or with any orange-colored, extended-life engine coolant such as Motorcraft® Specialty Orange Engine Coolant, meeting Ford Specification WSS-M97B44-D. Meets the requirements of WSS-M97B55-A and ASTM D 3306.

Thanks. Sounds like Ford is not back-specing it at least for now. Ford did back-spec G-05 to replace Green to at least '99 if I recall correctly.

It looks like Ford has a different stance than Mazda:

Quote:
• In the case of older models, the coolant replacement interval is every five (5) years or 60,000 miles
(96,000 km).
• FL22 coolant is compatible with current (Green) ethylene glycol coolant.
• If FL22 coolant is mixed with existing Orange coolant, coolant color will turn black. For customer
satisfaction, DO NOT mix FL22 coolant and Orange coolant.

Here is the TSB from Mazda:
PRE-MIXED LONG-LIFE "FL22" ENGINE COOLANT

At first I thought the quote was from Ford but I see it is from the Mazda TSB you linked. When Mazda says Fl22 is compatible with "Green" don't they mean Asian Green and not American Green? Also I think this info is only applicable to the Mazda models and not necessarily Ford models, so I guess I'm not sure if Ford so much has a different stance than Mazda. They might be talking about different vehicles and a different green.

VC-10A2 which is the concentrate lists for $18.93

VC-10A which is the premix lists for $15.11

not sure how long the premix will be available from Ford for.
