Maybe Moving to Super Tec Synthetic in Camry

I took over my now deceased grandfathers 95 Camry 2.2 4cyl with 68k. I ran a short OCI with Pennzoil Conventional and then ran a few more OCI of 4k with Pennzoil Conventional. Everything looks great and she runs fantastic.

I run this engine hard and have had no oil burning anf the gas mileage even running it hard is 24 mix driving and 31 highway. So she's in great shape.

I have a stash of Super Tec 5w30 Synthetic (not the blend) and was considering making the switch. What are your thoughts? How long OCI? I was thinking 5500 - 6k area.

I'm not a fan of jumping from one oil to another. I'm comfortable with finding a good oil and staying with it if it works. But I would like to use up my stash (was for another vehicle I no longer own).

Dooooo eeeeit! Had a '93 Camry that I ran up to 235k-while a little gutless, that sucker was a bulletproof motor. Only thing to watch out for are possible headgasket issues-didn't happen until 180k on mine, but it does come up. If you lived any closer, I'd try to buy it from ya

I use Super Tech synthetic in my cars, even my good ones.

I also have a 95 camry.220,xxx miles.no engine problems except for rear side minor oil leak.

Definitely a good car to use it on...those motors are great and it should not give you any issues using up the oil.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Yes, I'm very impresse with this engine. I repalced the front axles as they were badly worn. I did all 3 of the belts at 70k, did 2 trans services with MaxLife (shifts very smooth), fuel filter, PCV, Plugs, Wires, distrib cap, upper lower radiator hoses, oil seals, and water pump.

Since my other 2 vehicles are big trucks with 14ish MPG I'm loving this Camry and the 24-31 MPG!!!!!

After putting 10k on it I can see why anyone who had one regrets getting rid of em!

I've got a '93 Camry 4cyl, 288K! little sludge under the cap

but she runs well, plenty of pep, uses a qt or so in 1500 miles.
I only got it at 283K, not sure if OCI's were regular before that.

I AM impressed with this little toyota though, runs great!

6-7k runs with a quality filter. It's a fine oil and will suit you well. Enjoy!

From a completely non-scientific standpoint, if ST conventional has shown completely fine results at 5k, I can't imagine 6 to 7k would be an issue. Is that era of 2.2 engines known sludgers? I was under the impression that it was the 1997 and newer 4 cylinders in the Toyota lineup.....

I'd stay with a cheap synthetic, 5,000 to 7,500 mile OCI; Wix, Baldwin, Purolator white or yellow can, or other good filter. My old '96 V-6 Camry has 290,000 miles. Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 oil, 5,000 to 7,000 OCI, no oil usage between changes. Just keep on doing what you're doing on oil & filters. Keeping a quality air filter in there and changing that timing belt every 60,000 miles and that little 4-cylinder rascal will last a long, long time. I also would do an automatic transmission pan drain every 15 to 20,000 miles or so, using a quality Dexron dino.
The 92 to 96 Camry IS a bulletproof vehicle, isn't it? I bought mine new & never plan to sell it. My wife's 2010 V-6 Camry is a super good car...but my old '96 is even better!

Heck yes.
If you have a stash of Super Tech syn 5w30, use it in this car.
Super Tech has shown well in the few used oil analysis of it we see here.
6K should be no problem with this oil.
I've used it, but there are better oils out there that are cheaper after MIR.
If I had this oil in my stash, I'd use it without hesitation.
