OK so I put gas in the truck it has a hair under 3/4 tank it cost 50 bucks to fill it from 3/4. I'm cringing I wanted a truck so bad but now that I got it holy cow. Maybe I should just buy a little car ? Ill be going to college in Aug and my fiance is taking summer classes . When will gas go down? I probably shouldn't have bought a truck.......

I know in another of your posts you mentioned the need to haul scrap metal, is that still necessary? If not drop the truck.

Gas isn't going down anytime soon if anything you'll be paying 5 bucks by the end of summer. Maybe take the money to buy a small, used motorcycle.

50 bucks? Dude, it costs me well over 100 to fill the Expedition. You guys are still paying less than we are.

You gotta pay to play. A truck or SUV costs a lot more than a small car to operate fuel-wise.

How you could not know it's expensive to fill before you buy is beyond me. I'd like a truck too, but we all know they are brutal to fill.

I pay $60 to fill my Civic from dead empty, and that is regular.

OVERKILL is right, well over $100 in Canada to fill a truck.

He said it cost $50 from 3/4 tank, so it would be about $200 probably for a full tank.

I put $55 in the cruze today. [censored] $4.08 for 93 octane. Regular is still $3.89 here though.

PLEASE, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go to the library and check out all of Dave Ramsey's books and read them twice.

You need to learn a lot.

Trucks are $. If you dont make a ton of money, and are students, you dont need to be spending money on two vehicles, one of which is a gas hog.

If it is making money, use it to make money, that's it. If it isnt making money after insurance, gas, etc., then get rid of it.

You need one car.

$40.22 last weekend to fill my Forester after it was indicating 1/4 tank. If the OP needs a truck, consider trading into a diesel. Diesel is more efficient plus diesel prices are within spitting distance of regular unleaded again.

It surely costs more to fuel a truck than a car... That said I find it funny how folks treat fuel prices as if they rise exponentially. When it is $3.30 a gallon they buy a truck or a big SUV or other less efficient vehicle that meets their needs and wants. When it is $3.50 a gallon that extra twenty cents launches them into orbit and the dump the gas burner (often at a loss) and buy a micro car they will be forever displeased with except at the pump… I’d sooner cancel premium channels or take my lunch to work than start over with another payment and “make-do” with a small car so I can save $30 a month at the pump. Even the $5.00 a gallon media induced panic that has whipped so many sheeple into panic must give way to mathematics… an increase of a $1.50 a gallon, while a ludicrous amount to pay for a gallon of fuel, is not going to break anyone. Its less than a hundred more bucks a month for the average person. I’m not saying it isn’t a big deal or it’s not a problem because it is and all we middle class folk watch our pennies. I’m just trying to illustrate that even the doomsday $5.00 a gallon is not the fanged monster our media would have us believe it is.

He bought a vehicle with a 34 gallon tank (unless it is a short bed with the 25 gallon tank), I have a 30 gallon tank, you have to expect something with a tank that large to be expensive to fill.

At $3.89/gallon, you guys are paying $1.03/L. That's CHEAP to us! We are paying currently $1.25/L, or $4.74/US gallon. Gas for my wife's car is $1.35/L, or $5.11/US gallon.

So complain away, we are still a solid $1/gallon higher than you guys.

Tax accounts for a fair portion of that.

Twelve years from now new V8's and even V6's will be rare. If I had one now I'd want to be out of it by 5 or 6 years, max. BP's recent report on the near future of vehicles and fuel prices is dead on.

After I retired from full time work I traded my 2000 Ranger for the Focus as I was driving much more. So I bought a 5x8 utility trailer, which cost $18 a year for the license, and that serves me well when I need to haul something.

Hey you did good on the truck. Minor repairs & you got A/C major need's in my book in MO. We're all feeling it at the pumps.

Motorcycle mentioned before is a great idea if you like too ride. That's why I'll use my HD thu this (****). Still I'll cringe to pay $30 to fill her up!

$40 to fill up our Accord or Civic with 87 octane gas from RaceTrac.

I have never understood why people need such a big vehicle for everyday use, but if you really need a 5000+ Lb vehicle then you can afford the fuel.

It wasn't that I didn't know it would cost a lot to run . I had a job worked out and everything was worked out so we thought but it fell through. So without that truck is almost impossible. And its only averaging 13-14 I expected more . I have every intention of hauling scrap. Also not going very well. Turns out that business went down the toilet to. I used to afford and justify having a truck by hauling scrap. Its necessary to have a truck since this job didn't work out and scraping is not working very well. I still want a truck but a want and a need is not the same.

I don't need to read any books. I just need a little luck. If I sell the truck I'm going to buy another little car. Maybe one that doesn't burn oil.

Remember it's an indicated 3/4 tank. GM gauges sometimes give you 100 miles on "full" before they fall down. Some of that vintage even give you "5/4" when you totally top it off.

Even though OP has the 4.3 V6, he has an aerodynamic barn door to push around.

Start tracking MPG with the tripometer. I bet you get around 19, which other truck drivers will say, ain't so bad.
