Maxlife VS ST HM

1996 Corolla, 1.8, 203K miles
My son has been using ST HM 10W40 in his Yota and has slowed an oil consumption of 1 qt. every 1K miles to about a 3/4-1 qt. every 1200 miles. I told him about Maxlife and the WM $5 off coupon but he's not into coupons. But, he did say the price difference between the 2 in 5 qt. containers is only $2.
Q?; Since the oil consumption has slowed down with the ST, is the ML add pack any better to slow down oil consuption more than the ST? I see a lot of members here use ML. And, it's a semi-synthetic oil.

Maxlife contains some patented additives for consumption issues. Maxlife = Great stuff, I run it in two of our vehicles.

The deal with Maxlife though is it's resource conserving, so it loses the potential of reducing consumption by also being "thicker" for grade like some HM oils are. That is not an issue in 10w40 though. Why don't you print the coupon for him and give it to him, surely he can do that to save 5 bucks!

I've scored two jugs myself, gotta hurry though it expires the end of the month.

KC, you originally suggested he use ST HM. And, it was a great idea. But while buying a qt. of ST today in WM he called me and told me about the ML VS ST price. I told him about the coupon then, but he wasn't interested. He only needed 1 qt. of oil.
He lives in FL and my printer needs ink cartridges. Besides, his OCI is not for awhile anyway.

Have you seen this post, by chance? Perhaps now he'd be more interested in the deal.
