It's been 2 weeks now since i bought my Escort ( FORD Escort that is, not something else ) And i have narrowed my oil choice down to either a Valvoline Maxlife frankenbrew or using a HDEO. Out of these 3 which would be the best for cleaning? ( See engine internal pics : https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/4649829/1 ) The engine takes 3.5L with the oil filter, 10W-40 or 15W-40 is the Ford reccomended grade. 2.5L of Maxlife 15W-40 Dino + 1L of Maxlife 5W-40 full syn 2.5L of Maxlife 15W-40 Dino + 1L of SynPower 10W-40 Or just plain Mixed fleet Shell Rimula R4X 15W-40 HDEO ( API: CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, CF. SL; ACEA: E7, E5, E3; Global: DHD-1; Caterpillar: ECF-2, ECF-1-A ) which also has 1250ppm of Zddp, the engine does have a flat tappet SOHC camshaft with fairly high valve spring pressures even on a stock engine ( 220 lbs at full lift ). The HDEO would be the cheaper option cost wise.
