My current fill in the Burb is MaxLife NextGen, which I chose because of a FAR deal and to try and curb a rear main seal leak. Well, it didn't help with the rear main seal and Bar's Leaks didn't help either. It was dripping way too much oil on the driveway and getting on the starter, so I got the seal replaced today ($770 - ouch!). There are no other leaks, I believe it consumed 1/2 qt on the previous fill of Castrol GTX HM, I have not noticed any consumption in the 2500 miles of the current fill, and things under the valve covers look pretty clean when peeking through the oil fill tube.
I have another 5+ qt jug and 1 qt bottle of MaxLife NextGen, as I planned on using it for the next OC. Should I stick with it for the next change or utilize its higher detergent levels and seal conditioners in the Grand Prix, which has 131k+ miles, mostly sat for a year before I purchased it, and could probably benefit from some cleaning up and conditioning?
I have 5 qt of PU, which I was going to use in the GP, but could use in the Burb instead. The Burb is a kid hauler that normally does five or so trips per week, each 30 miles round trip, whereas the GP will be doing more mileage (~300-400/week), with most miles on both cars being highway.
