What is the general consensus on this oil? I tried a search but couldn't find anything. I was thinking about using it in the wife's hyundai sante fe as well as my tacoma. possibly a 7500 OCI....not sure

I was going to start using PP but just got back from Walmart and PP is now at 23 bucks where the full synthetic maxlife is at 18.

Sounds like Pennzoil is working real hard at pricing themselves out of the market. Never tried Maxlife so I can't help you, but PP was a great oil at a nice price.

Yeah, I was going to use PP, actually used it my last oil change but for 23 bucks I can get 5 quarts of maxlife full synthetic and a wix filter.

Is it available in 0W-20 and sold in Walmart? If Walmart has it in 0W-20 I'll try it too!

thanks guys...the walmart I was at only had 10w30 and 5w30. Theprices best i can remember went something like this(5 quart jugs)...

pp-23 even
maxlife full synthetic18.99
maxlife blend-12.even
penn yellow 12 even
penn high mileage 12 even
i think castrol high mileage was 15-16 bucks
mobil was around 27...best i can remember
quaker state full synthetic had went up quiet a bit too...I think it was 21+ and a few weeks ago I think it was around 18

Man i wish my local Walmart carried full synthetic maxlife. Im currently running PP now in my Tacoma, good stuff so far athough you can run anything in a Taco with the same results. Nwxt summer i may switch over to red bottle maxlife, im courious if it can go 7500 miles or six months...i guess a uoa would be in order.

the maxlife full synthetic was a4, i just changed oil with it..

not sure of the others

It's a very good oil. Even the synthetic blend Maxlife is very good. Here is a UOA of synthetic-blend (Maxlife) that was 7,381 miles in a V6, and the oil was still good for continued use. Considering the synthetic is a step up from the syn-blend, you should have no problem running 7500 miles. You could even run the syn-blend 7500.

I guess I'm not comparing apples to apples then. If its only available in xw-30 I'll stick with Mobil 1 or PP. I need 5W-20 and 0W-20 for my applications. I might switch the 88 E-150 over to the 5w30 though, if I can find it.

Thanks

A4 must be aisle 4; or I4 for the unedjercated.

Funny thing about that Maxlife. I picked up some 5qt handles (Semi-Synthetic)of it at Wal-Mart, but I did notice that the 5w30 indicated that it was A1, while the 10w-40 was A3. Don't ask...It has worked well for me in the past. No UOA's to support my opinion, but no mechanical failures or issues in my truck which has been using it for 5.5 years.

Two low an HTHS for A3 and not enough fuel effeiciency for a Starburst seal. It would not pass ALL the requirements of GF4. (The label is misleading)
