Is there a better bulk price than SuperTechs $18/5qt?

It doesn't really make a difference, But just regular vehicles. Honda Acura Subaru Ford e.t.c
Of course it does. Certain engines are much more demanding on oil than others. I’ve had Honda’s and Acura’s go hundreds of thousands of miles on syn blend. I also own an oil burner(Subaru) that has stuck oil control rings that runs 5k oci’s on some of Wallys top synthetics.

Another option is to catch decent rebates when you can. PZ rebate every year is pretty solid. $25 electronic gift card with 10qt purchase. Between that and standardizing on ST or Kirkland I don’t think you can get any more cost effective without being a clearance hunter or buying in massive bulk quantities.

I have 6 oil changes right now to be done and I'll have more this year, I'm not looking to buy 30 gallons
Sounds like you have a grip on the pricing.
You're not going to drive across 3 states to save what we're talking about here.

Since you're sounding new to this, may I suggest finding a source of "body rivets" near you.
These are the expanding, pronged holders which are used to hold splash shields and belly pans in place.
They commonly get broken on curb-stops when people drive over them.
I found there are always some broken whenever I do an oil change.
I'm sure you'll find the same.

The trouble is that they come in a zillion shapes and sizes AND dealerships charge 20 times more than what they're worth.
There's a body shop supply house near me which has a sample board of these fasteners set up and the prices are real reasonable.
"Let me have 10 of #2055 and 15 of #10112" is the sort of thing I say.
These reusable rivets cost 8 cents to 45 cents each. and keep the splash shields in place.
You give the broken ones to the customer or relative so they know what you're talking about.
You decide the pricing.

Everything can be purchased online, I don't need to drive anywhere to buy oil.

I'm not new to this, I have 1000 of those on hand in all types and sizes.

Yes, a hidden cost is driving to the store to buy the oil or filters. Gasoline costs roundtrip is something to add into the equation.

I live in a small town 20 miles from the nearest Walmart, so I prefer to buy as much as possible online (with free delivery),
and let FedEx pay for the fuel when they drive all those extra miles to deliver it to my home.

I have 3 Honda Odyssey EX-L's with VCM enabled, which are very hard on the oil due to the VCM and poorly designed PCV valve (too small) which creates extreme heat on the cylinder heads and cooks the oil. I've been using Super Tech HMFS 5W-30 for years with 5,000 mile OCI. Super Tech is a good oil. Super Tech is Dexos 1 Gen 3 approved, which places stricter limits on sludge/varnish deposits. I would use it in any vehicle, even Ford twin turbo Ecoboost's.

I took advantage of that Tractor Supply clearance sale a few years ago. I got the Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage Full Synthetic 5 quart jugs for $10 each.

Vcm can be disabled with a vcm tuner ii if you have one of the uncommon vehicles actually affected by vcm.

Here’s my daughter’s 2016 Acura RDX 3.5 V6 ~125k miles. Nothing disabled running M1 ESP 0w30. Engine has never burned a drop.

I got the ST 12 qt bag boxes on clearance for $32 and they haven't been back in stock, even though they still technically exist on the website. They're no fun to use, I have to pour them into an intermediate pitcher, and manipulate the spout while it's pouring while simultaneously handling the pitcher that's getting increasingly heavy.

You can get a Costco membership then "return" it "unsatisfied" if you want to try the store out for the day. Their oil goes on sale twice a year.

Or watch the clearance sales here, I've kept my Prii in 0w20 quite well at around $2-2.50/qt. Latest was a Valvoline blowout last summer.
You also might be able to have someone buy you a Costco gift card and maybe get into the store or order it online using the gift card as payment.

Here’s a neat non scientific comparison. Both pics taken from recently completed oil changes on two Subaru’s that I maintain for friends and family. Both are on 5k 4 month oci’s, 137k and 146k on the same N/A 2.5 engines. One gets my $27 oil choice from Wally and the other comes to me with a $20 “full synthetic” oil from Wally. One uses a 1/2 quart between changes and the other uses 2 quarts. Again this is not scientific and has many variables but it is food for thought.

why would they stop selling oil boxes?
To make room for higher margin, higher volume products, or products where the distributor pays Walmart for the shelf space. Let's say I had a oil company that was run by a nation state, and I produced a brand new oil, and I wanted to get that oil on the shelf, I might buy my way through YouTube reviews, influencer reviews, and then pay a retailer to put it eye level on the shelf.

Well there's only so much shelf space, so something has to go.
