For the same reason that a five quart jug of VRP is $29 and one quart is $11 at Wally World. The corporations want you steer you towards their profit leaders.why would they stop selling oil boxes?

Or it could just be that the boxes don’t sell. For the same reason that a five quart jug of VRP is $29 and one quart is $11 at Wally World. The corporations want you steer you towards their profit leaders.
Too simple. Everything must be some grandiose 3D chess move.Or it could just be that the boxes don’t sell.
Havoline 6qt boxes are even betterThe large garage boxes.are definately more work to use versus the jugs. There is nothing like using a 5 quart jug and a single quart bottle for the oil change. Pour it in and done. Costco sells the singles online.
I agree on the bag boxes. For the meager price difference on the brand I use, the inconvenience combined with what gets spilled or left in the bag, I have went back to jugs.I got the ST 12 qt bag boxes on clearance for $32 and they haven't been back in stock, even though they still technically exist on the website. They're no fun to use, I have to pour them into an intermediate pitcher, and manipulate the spout while it's pouring while simultaneously handling the pitcher that's getting increasingly heavy.
You can get a Costco membership then "return" it "unsatisfied" if you want to try the store out for the day. Their oil goes on sale twice a year.
Or watch the clearance sales here, I've kept my Prii in 0w20 quite well at around $2-2.50/qt. Latest was a Valvoline blowout last summer.
You don't need to buy at Costco at a non-member price. There is a way to buy at the member price even if you are not a member.Apparently Costco also sells 4 packs of their oil, buying that even with the non member surcharge makes it about 80 cents cheaper, or $4 cheaper with a membership. So it looks like super tech wins unless you are willing to buy 4, which at certain times I would be.
All the costcos near me require a scan/check in at the kiosk upon entering. How do you bypass this with that proposed method? You don't need to buy at Costco at a non-member price. There is a way to buy at the member price even if you are not a member.
Ask someone who is a member to buy you "Costco gift cards" which are sold at par. The gift card will then allow you to shop at Costco
at member price, even if you are not a member!
Show them the gift card at the entrance and they should let you in. I have a membership, but myAll the costcos near me require a scan/check in at the kiosk upon entering. How do you bypass this with that proposed method?
Your car is totally fine with a 5/30. Won’t hurt a thing and 5/30 is good down to below 0 degrees, also with a 5/30 you’ll have a 3.0 or so HTHS.That's a 5W30 blend. I need 0W20, which is full synthetic only and it's $29.
Show them the gift card at the entrance and they should let you in. I have a membership, but my
daughter lives in a nearby city 40 miles away. I give her $50 gift card to use on occasion when
she needs to buy something quick from there. Hasn't been a problem so far.
Does Costco require you to scan your membership card at checkout? Sams and BJ’s club both require that. That would be problematic if Costco does (assuming not a member of course.)Show them the gift card at the entrance and they should let you in. I have a membership, but my

That is a lot of effort for a few bucks savings though. The ROI isn’t even minimum wage rates. You don't need to buy at Costco at a non-member price. There is a way to buy at the member price even if you are not a member.

I fail to see any savings. Walmart sells supertech for $18, and costco is also $18.That is a lot of effort for a few bucks savings though. The ROI isn’t even minimum wage rates.
Thanks to posts here I'm now saving money by buying super tech full synthetic oil, and I end up using 0W20 a lot, so I just bought 6x 5qt bottles from Walmart. The price is good, but with how much I'm now going through is it possible to save by buying in 5 gallon buckets from somewhere? I looked and couldn't find better than Walmart $18 per 5qt.
Even then. Seems like a lot of moving and shaking for a couple bucks per OCI.I fail to see any savings. Walmart sells supertech for $18, and costco is also $18.
Only if you get it on sale at costco…
Agreed, unless he wants to buy like 8x5qt on sale, then maybe save $25…. But I agree, too much work.Even then. Seems like a lot of moving and shaking for a couple bucks per OCI.
Add to it if someone doesn’t shop at Costco it is likely because there isn’t one close by. It is a 35 mile round trip for me. That is a gallon of gas and an hour of my time seeking out a low cost readily available commodity. And I have to pass by two WM’s to get there.Agreed, unless he wants to buy like 8x5qt on sale, then maybe save $25…. But I agree, too much work.
