Maxlife broken down

Guys,

I asked Valvoline how much synthetic is in Maxlife. This is their response:

Thank you for your question. 30% of the MaxLife is synthetic. The synthetic base is a blend of Group 3 and Group 4 base stocks. Any other information we are unable to release. Thank you.

Looks very good on paper and it's backed up by many good UOAs. I bet it breaks down to 70% Grp II/II+, 20% Grp III and 10% Grp IV.
Sorry if you guys already knew this!

no we wont... relative percentages verge on meaningless...

Pennzoil, Castrol, and Havoline are all conventional HM oils.

was maxlife always like this or was it it different before since then didn't advertise 'synthetic blend' on their older bottles/jugs.

Back when it was SL, the MSDS listed the CAS # for PAO and 12-22% PAO content. That sort of fits with your guess.

The SM also has a nice slug of moly (last I checked) which would help make up for the lower zddp in SM.

Back when those Timken oil tests were being posted everywhere,didn`t Valvoline and Penrite beat out all of the other oils? Not sure how the Timken test compares to real world,but it was fun to read nonetheless.
