Maxlife broken down

Guys,

I asked Valvoline how much synthetic is in Maxlife. This is their response:

Thank you for your question. 30% of the MaxLife is synthetic. The synthetic base is a blend of Group 3 and Group 4 base stocks. Any other information we are unable to release. Thank you.

Looks very good on paper and it's backed up by many good UOAs. I bet it breaks down to 70% Grp II/II+, 20% Grp III and 10% Grp IV.

no we wont... relative percentages verge on meaningless...

Back when it was SL, the MSDS listed the CAS # for PAO and 12-22% PAO content. That sort of fits with your guess.

The SM also has a nice slug of moly (last I checked) which would help make up for the lower zddp in SM.
 
Back when those Timken oil tests were being posted everywhere,didn`t Valvoline and Penrite beat out all of the other oils? Not sure how the Timken test compares to real world,but it was fun to read nonetheless.
