Maxlife ATF Mercon LV?

Hey Guys,

Looking to do a drain and fill on my 6r140. It has a drain plug on the pan and calls for Mercon LV. I can get maxlife atv localy for a song and it claims to meet this spec. Is this truly a licensed Mercon LV or should I look elsewhere?

Sorry for the stupid question...ashland seems to word this odd and i don't want to make a very expensive mistake...

It's not officially licensed, but I use it in the 6F35 in our Fusion which calls for Mercon LV. Maxlife ATF is good stuff, and a bargain.

What fluids are officially licensed? Maxlife is a bargain...i guess if everyone is using it in place of LV i should be all set. This trans has an easy life. The 6r140 is the absolute strongest light duty truck trans on the market. Its rated to handle over 1400 ft/lbs of torque, which is more than the even the allison.

My truck only has a gas motor with a comparatively wimpy 440 ft/lbs.

I did a pan drop on an '09 Focus, refilled with Maxlife LV, and the owner couldn't say enough good about how the car improved. Now, I did motor mounts, PCV valve, and TB cleaning at the same time, but it certainly didn't hurt it.

My local Ford trained mechanic had no issue with the jugs of Maxlife I had for putting in the rebuilt transmission with 2 year warranty on the Transit

I'm running it in the 6R80 in my 5.0 2011 F150 with 134K miles and no problems!

Have had it in the Crown Vic's 4r75e for 35k miles now. Also have had it in the Malibu's 6T40 (relation to Ford's 6F35, which specs LV) for the same amount of time.

Nothing negative to report.

Maxlife seems to be one of the multi-spec ATF's out there that actually works as advertised in a wide range of applications without issue. I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

It's not complicated, they didn't license the product but claim it will meet all the requirements. You have to put your faith into Valvoline on this one and they've got a pretty good track record. I wouldn't use a non licensed product made by a non reputable company.

I run it in everything I have including a 5R110 in my Superduty. I have more than 1000 ft/lbs at the input shaft and no abnormal shifting or slippage. I have regular excursions into the 235 degree range on pan temperature and the fluid is still clear and pink on the dipstick. I believe I have even seen a positive recommendation from Mark Kovalsky who used to engineer transmissions for Ford.

Maxlife is not officially licensed, but it is a great ATF. Use it with confidence once your warranty is up

The good news is that Walmart's ST synthetic LV ATF is Ford-approved. Order it online for $15/gal (then pick it up in-store) (if you just buy it at the store it's over $20/gal). The Walmart ATF is made by WPP, most likely the same as Mag 1 LV.
