We received the following communication initiated by Connecticut Weight and Measures. They have determined that a brand of oil called Maxi-Guard is probably nothing more than used oil. Apparently the business address on the label is fictitious. You may wish to inform your ILMA, ILSAC, API and AOCA membership of this issue. Based on a complaint, it appears that someone is selling counterfeit motor lubricants. It seems that the lubricant is used oil and we chased down the distributor in New Jersey which appears to be bogus. I’m sending this to you to distribute to your members who operate service stations to be on the look out for this product. It appears as if individual service station are approached by someone offering them a “deal.”
The product is branded Maxi-Guard.
