I was reading that these cars suffer from severe tire cupping on the rear tires. Anyone have experience with this issue? Did this affect certain model years or the entire line of cars?

I has the same problem in my 03 Corolla. Severe abnormal wear in the rear resulting in tire cupping and tire noise. I caught it outside warranty. The rear alignment is not adjustable. I had an adjustment kit installed at Firestone for $150 IIRC.

Coworker suffered uneven wear but not necessarily cupping on his 03 vibe.

He also ran really sticky tires, Cooper Xeons (?) and was having pulling/ jerking issues. We hypothesised that a small amount of built in slip was binding up from the overly sticky tires.

He tried getting it aligned but needed shims or other hardware and the shop never called him back when/if the parts came in... so he gave up.

YES-on my '03 Vibe, GM replaced the tires & the replacement ones did it too. Fortunately it was bought back by GM for other reasons. My mom's '06 Matrix also had the same problem-but weirdly enough the replacement (cheap Capitol) tires have been fine!?!

What brand tires came on the 06 Matrix? I had Conti's that I replaced with some Hankook Ventus V2 Concepts. I really like them so far.
