Mastercraft Strategy

I replaced the original tires on my van with Goodyear Viva Touring tires from Wal-Mart. They were supposed to be a 80k mile tire. Mine were worn out (3/32nds) in just 41k miles. No off road driving, tires were kept rotated.
I just replaced these tires with Mastercraft Strategy tires. Has anyone else used these?
How are Mastercraft tires overall? What has the traction and treadlife been like with the Mastercraft Strategy tires?

Since you only got 41,000 miles out of those tires, Wal-Mart would have credited you for the 39,000 miles of life that you didn't get towards another set. That would have been nearly 1/2 of your money back on the tires.

Why walk away from money like that?

I wish that this was true. Wal-Mart techs told me this wasn't a mileage warranty. Couldn't get them to do anyghing about it. They would have based the refund on the remaining tread, which was nil and given me nothing. I feel pretty ripped off by Wal-Mart.

Sure there's a mileage warranty. You mentioned it yourself.

I had some Goodyear Trackers on the Sierra that fell about 30% short on the mileage warranty. Ended up with a 30% discount on the new tires.

It's that simple.

Master craft is one of Cooper's privately owned house brands. Generally as good as genuine Cooper. Not familiar with their grade names. What's the treadwear number?

I sell Dean brand which is another of Cooper's private labels. Good value for dollar spent. There's a matching grade equivalent for each of Cooper's grades.

You got hosed by the Wal-Mart Techs. Unless there is something wrong in the alignment, you should have gotten almost 50% of the original purchase price towards replacements.

Funny you should bring this up. I have Viva's on my van from Chinamart. They have about 20,000 miles on them. No way will they last 80,000 miles.They look half worn already.

Just so you know, Canadian Tire tend to state it's an estimate, and not a warranty. Wal-Mart is one of the few places left with a true treadwear warranty.
