Master pro vs Toyota reman rack and pinion

When you are forced to use Cardone, admit the fact that your "Car is done" (I just had to type that) I have been in one way or another, involved in the automotive repair industry since the early 70s (and taking stuff apart even before THAT :) ) I will also say that many years ago, when Cardone first started, they did take a little pride in some of their product. However, that was a very long time ago. Anything that Cardone supposedly "Re-manufactures" (for 10s of years now) is absolute JUNK, and I mean everything. Unfortunately, they also re-box quite a lot of their junk and sell it under other names, but you can usually ferret out that information. At least Toyota dared to put their name on that re-manufactured rack and pinion.

I thought I'd share what I discovered in case it ends up helping anyone else.
Toyota doesn't make or have any remans for my particular model. Apparently,I'm in some "mid year split" where the r&p was changed mid year. The guy said that they're simply not out there unless I want to pull from a junkyard, which is risky, or find one on ebay, which is also risky..
I contacted Edelmann and the guy said what's listed on Rockauto won't work. Their model number isn't compatible with my OEM part number 44250-48070. RockAuto lists a Maval that does correspond with my OEM part number but they are out of stock. O'Reilly's has a Master pro that will work in AutoZone has two grade endurance that will work. It looks like I'm stuck with aftermarket reman.

Autoplicity and carparts.com (is this the old JCW?) claim to have a Maval 9375M in stock.

I wonder what exactly changed. Sometimes it's just the thread size on a port and a corresponding hose will get you there. But if there are significant chassis differences then physical fit could be an issue.

I wonder if Mavals are also just done by BBB? I thought Maval was a rebuilder unto themselves, but have nothing conclusive to offer.

The TerrePower/BBB 311-0172 at RA is still over a hundred cheaper than commercial cost at O'Reilly.....although the core charge is WAY more

But, yeah, with a reman maybe you want local B&M access to swap. Exchanging a steering rack with RA is more of a hassle

Worldpac has 9 of the Maval 9375M racks in-stock in the US. 4 of them happen to be local to me. They do want $349 though.
