LOL, ok I will try to be nice. Being from Tn., I should know better!

Thanks all for the input, keep it coming.

It's (just) one of the things I like about this community, is the range of people and POV.

Had a cold call the other day, and am gathering data for the follow up...I doubt better half could handle the cold/snow.

Not much of this stuff matters one whit to a tourist. There's a lot of history up there. Boston is the only college "city" in the world. I'd think it would be a reasonable destination. Good public transportation is a handy thing for a tourist.

The comments regarding traffic and crowding apply to eastern MA only; Western MA (Berkshires) is very rural. In fact there are two adjacent exits on the MA pike which are 19 miles apart.

I've been around St Louis @ rush hour; that 'situation' is hardly indicative of the state driving as a whole.

@ liberty to mention the approximate area of the state? believe me, it makes a big difference

Do it for the lulz, everything is amusing once.

Even if you're shivering in -2'C weather you won't be called out as tourists, MA residents are pretty good at staring at their feet and ignoring the greater picture.

A high tax state with a lot of history.
A nice place to visit with much to see and probably a good place to live.
We've enjoyed our visits everywhere in New England.
Not nearly as vanilla as Ohio, but getting there.

I've never minded driving thro Mass--albeit as fast as I can.

Only place where driving in the breakdown lane is legal. It is also sometimes (often?) the fast lane.

Can't comment on the state, I learned long ago that I had no desire to do anything but visit.

No offense but what the heck does colleges have to with the price of air at gas stations?
The kids are a PITA unless your a young guy looking to play with some college girls on a rotating basis as the inventory changes.

Agreed. And speaking of colleges, MIT almost makes the area worth visiting on its own.

I wouldn't want to live in or around Boston either, but it's a great destination in the US for a visitor.

Pay matches up with cost of living. Culture in Boston area and around is great as it attracts creative types. It is a highly educated state as a whole.

The weather is moderate between hot and cold. I think its refreshing to have distinct 4 seasons personally. I live 10 miles north of MA border and 5 miles inland.

When my wife/I get older we likely will retire to MA if health fails us as social benefits are incredibly better. My wife works on MA/NH border hospital and suggestion for NH folks who are older to move to MA for better social services.

Yes, you have four seasons. They are: too cold, too hot, too wet, and road construction. (There's some overlap.)

If the country got an enema, Massachusetts would be on the short list of places for inserting it.

Ok fine, I see the road repair crews screwing up traffic as money multipliers and I go with the flow. I can't help it, its my freaken meds. I shun pike on smaller roads whenever possible in my daily rounds. As a result , I see some neat old stuff and revel in the changing scenery of the seasons. I live in the woods and can't see any houses. I have finally gotten to enjoy my life. Its taken me 63 yrs and a few close shaves to get me where I'm at. I'm not living large , but I'm happy, and I've been on a roll for over 5 yrs. Come to Mass to visit. I like Boston once I'm there. Getting in and out is the hassle.
