Gallows Pole?
A great musician. I saw Dire Straights live in the 80's and am still a big fan of their music, and what Knopfler has done since. Telegraph Road is one of my favorite songs, and even though I've heard Sultans of Swing hundreds of times, I still love it. The first Dire Straights album made a big impact on me.
Odd that Brothers in Arms was on the UK charts for well over a year & but was nowhere near as good as their first album or Making Movies. Douglas Adams wrote: Mark Knopfler has an extraordinary ability to make a Schecter Custom Stratocaster hoot and sing like angels on a Saturday night, exhausted from being good all week and needing a stiff drink.
Knopfler has a new album officially coming out this Tuesday. I just listened to it. Not bad, but not his best either. I still prefer his Dire Straits days. His solo work is too mellow, for the lack of a better word.
