manufacture reccomends 5w-30 for a turbo?

No problem... saab, who amongst car manufacturers probably has some of the best experience making turbocharged engines, reccomends 0w-30, 5w-30 and 0w-40 oils in their turbo engines, and they come from the factory with a 30wt oil in them. They produce good UOAs, and can go up to 18000 miles on an OCI. Im only talking the 9-3 series, so dont grill me on some stupid 9-5 detail that Im not aware of...
Anyway, the one stipulation is that an ACEA A3 oil must be used, and it seems that it is necessary for passing of the GM-LL-025-A test anyway.
Since the requirements are about the same, Id be looking for oils that are good to go in the saab 9-3.
