I just installed a new Mann Filter to replace my K&N and I noticed that the dirty side of the Mann Filter which was made in China has some of the rubber foam seal missing close to the filter media and not the foam that seals the box.Has Mann Filter products that are made in China gone down in quality? Thanks Joe

What car is it? My Mann filters for Mercedes come from Germany or Czech Republic (cabin filter).

My Mann filter for Nissan come from USA and one time Mexico (the Mexican one looked better and more OEM).

Just got a Mann filter for my Cadillac DTS ordered from Amazon. It was made in China. It's actually a pretty good looking filter. Some brands are flimsy and the pleats are glued together on the sides. This one is pretty solid and has a plastic reinforcement down the center of the paper. It has a softer sealing flange than the Wix that's on the car now.

I can't comment on your particular air filter (although I'm currently using Mann oil filters on my VW), but I can comment on "Made in China." Having worked for a worldwide Fortune 500 aerospace firm for 8 years now, I can definitely say that a Fortune 500 quality part that's made in that firm's overseas plants will typically have the same quality standards and controls as that same part made in the U.S. There's various corporate, industry, and ISO international standards that ensure that, backed up by rigorous audits. The aircraft parts we build in our Brazilian and Mexican plants are every bit as good as what we build here in Los Angeles, just with cheaper labor. Same should go for Chinese-made parts in a Fortune 500 owned plant. NOW....If that Chinese-made part WASN'T made by a Fortune 500 type firm (like Mann), but instead was made by Wang Khueh Manufacturing Co. (my fake Chinese gibberish), then you may be getting a quality part….but chances are it’ll be junk.

I just got Mann Air and Fuel filters for my Axiom. Mann air filter was cheaper than Fram and OEM Denso. Denso was US-made, both Mann filters are Chinese-made.

Bummer.
