The distorted sound of the goofy music they play does bring a smile to my face! The Mr. Softee truck music??
Love the sounds from an early 70s era EMD GP-38 as it winds up it's turbo and supercharger on that 2 stroke V-16.The clickly-clack of train wheels

I thought they were a thing of the past. Last year I'm driving through one of the inland towns near our beach house and there's a brand new Mr. Softee store. The distorted sound of the goofy music they play does bring a smile to my face!![]()
I remember the same after 9/11. At the time I was living so close to the Toronto airport that the landing gear on the planes would already be down when they flew over my house. A plane would fly over my house every two minutes (except in the wee hours as landings are restricted there overnight) But after 9/11 the silence was very noticeable without all of the planes.Silence. The lack of sound before a snowfall.
During the early covid days when air traffic was halted the silence was deafening.

I have a 346xp with muffler mod. That thing sounds incredible! 14,000 RPM of two stroke joy.a Husky Powersaw with a pipe.
Ahhh yes, and train horns! The mechanical smells too, the tar covered rail road ties, the grease or whatever is on the axles, the ozone / burning electrical smells. Not good for you but they bring back nostalgia of train rides and rail road track excursions as a kid.The clickly-clack of train wheels
