Except for pulling the nozzle out, which the video demonstrates will spill gas and make it worse. The initial flames was just the vapor coming out of the tank, which will slow down or stop if the flow from the nozzle is stopped.
He did come back to put the fire out. Everything there is self-serve.
At least he disengaged the automatic fill after pulling out the hose. I've seen videos where people ignite the vapors and then pull the hose while the autofill is engaged resulting in a massive cluster.
