How well do the magnetic pickup tools work that use the shielded magnet?

I have the 2nd and 3rd items on the Matco page. Work very well and have saved my a** a few times.

I have an older one like the Lisle 31000. I also have a cheap China teloscoping one. They both have come in handy.

I also have a cheap flexible 4 prong grabber that has saved me a few times.

Both magnet tools tend to want to magnetize on the sides which I don't like. I would love if the magnet did not do this. If I had one that was truly shielded I would be very happy.......

I've got the two Snap ons, the Lisle 31000 and an Ulman that's got a shield and is very nice for a pocket tool.
They all work fine.
