Now that Chinese auto parts are becoming too expensive due to rising wages in China, I guess we'll start seeing parts made in India.

I will be installing my first auto part from India tomorrow, a Sundram TVS radiator cap for my family's '99 Cherokee 4.0. The jobber offered a made in USA Mopar for $21 or this one for $7.

Apparently Sundram is GM's largest radiator cap supplier for their North American factories and has a plant in the U.S., first Indian manufacturer to win a US contract according to their website.

It looks to be well made, stainless steel, brass center post, both solid & neither plated, spring & rubber look to be good quality. If it were a thermostat I wouldn't take a chance, but I'll see what happens with this cap.

I don't care if a part is made in India as long as the quality of the part is top notch. Unfortunately I bought two Anchor brand motor mounts made in India and they had a strange rubber insert in them that was sort of a plastic mixture with rubber. The motor mounts ripped within a year so I decided to go with Beck Arnley mounts. The Beck Arnley mounts are made in Taiwan but the rubber inserts are really rubber and they have held up for over two years and still look fine.

I looked at some anchor mounts from India as well, and the rubber just looked bad, hard to the touch, release agent half in the rubber and flaking off the rest...
I'm sure it will be like China though, some good and the real cheap stuff will be bad.

Interesting.
Largest copper mines in the world are in India.

EPA has shut down all of ours in the USA.

Lots of jobs are best overseas, as there is no way the Federal Government will allow them to operate in a cost effective way here.

Interesting that we import a LOT of the raw materials that we can get here state side.

BTW, Ever wonder where those shell casings come from?

When I was ordering "Listeroid" diesel engines and parts from India, I was surprised to find that the individually purchased parts were very high quality. Much more so than the engines themselves.

I then learned that these parts were made by companies that also produced many parts for major companies. Parts such as Pistons, Rings, Bearings, and so on. India seems to be a world player in the engine parts business.
