I 2nd what DoubleDee has said.

I've used M1 ATF in Ford PS pumps for many years with good results. No failures and quiet pumps.

Well, I am going to be the contrarian. My truck, 2006 Sierra, calls for PSF but I went ahead and filled it with Mobil1 ATF after draining out the factory fill.

I have not noticed anything different except that the initial 1/2 second squeal from the PS pump when the truck is started up in -20C temperature has greatly diminished.

Detailed Description
An amber colored, light bodied mineral oil that contains a specially developed additive package to provide good performance in power steering systems. Reduces power steering noise. Specially formulated to provide anti-corrosive and non foaming qualities with excellent lubrication for year-round use.

I have had 3 GM p/s units that growl with the GM fluid. The only fluid that shut them up was the RP Max EZ synthetic PS fluid.

This has been exactly my experience with running synthetic ATF in GM power steering systems. The only difference I've noticed is improved cold-weather performance.
