Guys,
Was hoping someone might have this information:

M1 75w90 has a cst @ 100ºC of 15.2.

What I'm trying to figure out is if that's on the low range of the scale for a 90w or not.

I ask because my car is spec'd for a 75w85 GL5, which is virtually impossible to get ahold of (and I have my doubts that the dealership would use the correct oil).

I'll probably end up running the M1 75w90 regardless, but if it falls on the light end of the 90w scale, I'd feel even better about it

I'd guess towards the low end.

A 75W85 GL-5? Is there such a thing?
M1 75W90 will work fine if it's not a tranny and will just protect more.

fwiw, Liqui-Moly 75W90 has an advertised viscosity of 14.4 cSt @ 100C, I think that's the thinnest I could find.

Thanks. Yeah, Lexus specs a Toyota synthetic 75w85 GL5 for the Lexus IS350 diff.

I recently compared several 75w-90 gear oils also looking for a lower viscosity. I went with the Motul Gear 300.

Here are the ones I compared:
