Im looking for results with either oil on a tacoma V6 2002. After wasting money on amsoil (very good oil by the way) its time to use something that i can find over the counter. Between the two what would you use? Norcal gets 40 degrees in the winter and sometimes 100 degrees in the summer. Thanks.

Not sure why you wish to get either oil when both are able to go a min of 15,000 mile OCI's? I have not used the EP, but it has 50% more of the active ingredients over Mobil One 5w30, which I do use and have for over 765,000 miles, with 15,000 mile OCI's.(in 5 Toyota Landcruisers, and Z06 Corvette and other cars)

I do use 5w40 Mobil One Truck & SUV aka Delvac One 5w40. I run 25,000 mile OCI's with a TDI application after the warranty period. 5w40 is one of Mobil One's best oils.

Yes, Mobil 1 EP has 50% more of the "active ingredients" over Mobil 1 ILSAC GF-4. How much more does it have over the older M1 ILSAC GF-3 or M1 Truck&SUV?

BTW, M1 EP is not available in Europe, so I am going to use Delvac 1 in my Audi 80 1.6. I have been using the "european" Mobil 1 5w-40 for the last 20K miles. Will Delvac 1 harm the engine?

In the USA Mobil 1 5w40 Truck&SUV and Delvac 1 are the same oil just different labeling.

Well, as far as I remember, M1 5W-40's additives were changed a little a short while after its introduction. The older M1 5W-40 matched D1 5W-40 exactly, the newer M1 5W-40 differed a little. And how do we know D1 wasn't changed, too? Don't all the formulations get constantly tweaked?

777 - I gotta ask for the source that gives you such conviction in that assertion. Granted we've never seen any official bona fide XOM literature that verify that T&SUV is D1 ..but the vast mountain of evidence - even XOM's identical spec sheets - heavily (to a very extreme degree) points to the products being identical and merely repackaged for different marketing purposes.

Help me out here

Sorry for the "code" ..but I couldn't for the life of me find the characters that seemed to upset the board's software.

It is not going to matter much! You could use either the 5W40 TSUV or M1EP 15W50 and not notice a difference in Norcal. I would use 5W40 TSUV it offers a good comoprimise.
