I just realized my M1 5W30 does not bear an API S? Rating on the bottle or the site. Is this an oversight? What gives?

Maybe they're held up in licensing or some such oddity, cause it definetally doesn't say SM on the website for 5w30.
The website does state: "ILSAC GF-4 (API Certified - Starburst)". It is my understanding that GF-4 and SM are joined at the hip this go around.
I thought if an oil was actually "certified" by API it had to have the donut. Any oil can say it meets or exceeds the specs of an API service level. It is a starnge thing for Mobil though.
An oil can be SM, but not GF-4. SM does not have the fuel economy standard of GF-4
Does your 10W30 bottle have the donut? 5W30 does not.
The other day I found a bottle of "Golden State" in the store and it is "SA". It scared the c*** outta me and start checking for API Donuts.

I have a bottle of that on the shelf and also noticed it was not API. I use in my 2005 CTS which has Mobil 1 from factory till first oil change, 4,400 miles and 61% oil life remaining.
I suspose that to go for onger service intervals requires additives or amount of additives that API won't recognize due to them being synthetic. They apply same standars to dino and synthetic...

Is it the Extended Performance M1? It doesn't carry the starburst on the front.The regular M1 is fully approved SM/GF4.
The odds of Mobil selling a non-API certified 5w30 to the general public is the same as everyone in your family getting strucked by lightning.

I have two cases of the new Mobil 1 that I bought months ago. It has API starburst on the front. Back has ILSAC GF-4 API SM,SL/CF API energy conserving doughnut with API Srervice SM. Again, IMO this is a bogus topic/thread.
