I was wondering if M1 5w20 is a good oil and whether it can be used on a new engine with 5000 km on it?

Is it grp III? or PAO based?

Also, what is this that I hear about high Fe in M1 UOAs? Is that normal and consistent?

There is no such thing as motorcraft or troparctic in Canada. Or atleast havent seen one yet.

Back to the topic...

First off... no need to be sarcastic.
Second.. I mentioned mitsu.. so yeah its not ford. They all carry petro-canada 5w20 or esso not motorcraft. Like I said before I am in canada and havent seen motorcraft (apart from wrenches) or troparctic.. sorry to be a pain. Shouldnt have bothered posting in the first place.

don't get all sensitive on me....I've never seen TropArtic either, but everytime someone mentions MC, someone mentions its twin, TA.

if you are only doing 5,000 KM on an OCI, you could run pretty much any dino out there and be fine....

Ah...just thought I would check...Does Mitsu spec 5W20 for this app? Is Dino? Blend? Synth? required. Does it need to meet a certain Mitsu spec ? Is warranty a consideration ? What change interval ?

Yr Q) M1 - PAO or GrpIII ?
Ans. Who really knows and does it matter (related to above)?

BTW- I have a new Ford requiring 5W20 and on another forum the people in Canada say the Motorcraft there is DINO, not blend like here (????).

Yes it can be used on that application and nobody knows what group it is. But it will do fine.

I have used mobil-1 5w-20 synthetic in a 2004 Acura rsx-base with a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder for the last (2) years severe service, with no problems. Oci's are 6000 miles and 10 to 12 months. Oil filter has been k&n and mobil-1 extended performance.

What other 5w-20 oils are available in your area?
