M1 110A filter cut open 5400 miles

Here is the mobil 1 110A filter in use for about 5400 miles on my 89,000 mile 2018 Subaru Forester FB25 6mt. This filter is the second ~5,000 mile filter I'm replacing on its current 10,600 mile fill of HPL premium pcmo 0w30

This time around the filter is noticeably cleaner than the first 5,000 mile interval, so I feel better about leaving the Fram Ultra XG7317 i replaced this m1 filter with in place for the remainder of this oils use.

The anti drainback valve was working well on this filter. When I removed the oil filter, the filter remained quite full of oil.

Looks good to me at 5400 fci. No observable adbv slits/indentions, none expected this design. And made in US.

Premium filter at 5400 miles with premium oil should look pristine, no? M1 filters are rated to 20k. Was/is there any issue you are addressing in the 2.5 that might hamper the filter performance? I noticed you mentioned this filter appeared cleaner than the previous one on the HPL run. What was dirtier? Overall or did you have some carbon pieces visible?

Mobil 1 oil filters now made by M+H/Purolator, with a Purolator date code. Looks pretty good though.

Is the paper media better or same compared to older M1 filters ?

This mobil filter's efficiency isn't great so a cleaner looking mobil filter could, reasonably, result. When you used the Ultra it's going to filter more junk & consequently look dirtier. So, the dirty filter is doing a better job of filtering. Your "Feel better about leaving Fram Ultra" is costing you more debris in your oil & engine.

No issues with the 2.5 I am trying to address. Since HPL cleans already well maintained engines so well I was airing on the side of caution and replacing oil filter every 5k for first oci. First filter was fram Ultra and had more soft "goo" than I've seen in previous oil filters on this engine.

Good to know. I usually purchase the ultra or titanium but were available at the time

Thanks for the reply; appreciate it. No finger poke but the response leads to questions. Pics of the "goo?" If not what was the "goo" like? Carbon? or more like the gunk you'd find on a differential magnet plug? Wondering for sure here since no issue to correct. Again, not a finger but an inquisitive want-to-know kinda thing. I'm in a spot where I don't have a small displacement turbo but the future ICE seems to be all that and more.

Slight muddy like goo on the filter pleats and the deposits at the center of the can under the bypass valve, although less.
