Blackstone said that this was a very good sample. With wear indicators well below average for this type of engine.

I've used Mobil 1 10w30 since the first oil change at 1,500 miles. Have been changing at 7,500 miles but went to 10,000+ miles on this sample. I think I'll use 10,000 miles for OCI. Also I've been using the Mobil 1 oil filter M1- 102. I'd say that this is a very good report.

Comments?

Yeah, that oil is still good too. Id just use the interval your using to be safe. 10,000 on m1 sure does pay for itself with these wear #'s.

Berge,

My driving conditions are mainly rural. My drive to work and back home is 13 miles via a State highway at 60-65 mph. No stops. From my driveway to the highway is about 1/2 mile so I get some heat into the engine and oil before the higher speeds. My garage is heated so winter starts are at 50-60 degrees. Of course the start at the end of the day at work is at whatever the prevailing temp. is.

Driving otherwise for shopping involves a 25 mile trip to town and back home via the same State road. Then my wife and I go to a town 65 miles away every weekend. So that trip runs 130 -150 miles of open road. I run at 65-75 mph during this drive. So the car is seeing driving that warms up the oil and engine with steady speeds and little to no idling during trips. Probably ideal for the engine for long life. I do use the engine fairly hard as I accelerate rather briskly. On a side note, my brake pads usually last over 100,000 miles because I don't do much stop and go.

The filter must have done a superb job to keep the insolubles @.3 Did you use any additives?? I am totally puzzled by M1 thickening this much. I guess Amsoil does this also, so why not.

The zinc and calcium look a wee bit high for a classic M1 10w30 signature.

Haley 10,

I did not use any additives. I don't believe in them. As for the filter doing its job, I guess the Mobil 1 M1-102 is a very good filter and the right size for this engine. I'll being waiting a year or so before I do another UOA. I'll check it at about 60,000-70,000 miles.

David

Well, you are probably ok. I don't like to see this much thickening, so I would keep it topped up at least so your always full rather than being 2/3 low on the stick. 7.500 mi. might be a better choice.
