I guess there's a shortcut if you're not into rebates.
Wonder if that works for an oil jug as well

Cause the Mobil 1 in the Supertech box has already been purchased.

Instead of paying $20 for the M1 filter, the perp swpped it out with a $2 Super Tech filter and got away with a M1 filter for $2. I found several 5 qt jugs at my local WM with used oil in it.

It sure does.

Sadly low-lifes are found in many places, as this and other similar previously posted swaps indicate, WM certainly is not exempt. Otoh, having read promo sub forum comments over the years, some feel it's ok to purchase oil on closeout and/or with extreme low price elsewhere and bring it to WM for a (no receipt) gift card at WM current prices. No difference imo, or perhaps the latter is worse.

One of the reasons I inspect the packaging on the oil filters and oil jugs before purchase at WM. Now it's cheaper and somewhat faster to just order both using Amazon if I plan ahead since WM has such a spotty record (in my area at least) in keeping what I buy in stock and I don't want to have to keep checking back.

No more pathetic than returning a jug of-insert manufacturer and weight here-waste oil with proof of purchase for a full refund. Ballsy but true.

Recently I've returned four jugs of oil back to Walmart..... each time no receipt. I went to four different Walmart storeas and at each store, the service center girl inspected my returnable jug for cap seal engagement.

The Wally world employees behind the counter are trained well here in Lower Michigan, not to accept jugs that have been already opened.

Just for grins I looked through the Fram Ultra filters at our local Walmart, virtually every one had been opened. Not sure what they are looking for but I think you would be foolish to buy one.

typical low life.

not too long ago, I bought a gallon of ST oil . take home and after pop the seal, find out it have cool and oil mix together, some low life pour it into a new jug and return it to walmart.

The Supertech 9688 is the only Hyundai/Kia 2.4 oil filter I've seen working with a nitrile ADBV. When I bought my Hyundai filter at Wally world, I first spotted the Supertech. I opened the lid, saw it had nitrile - shook my head and put the box back down on the shelf.

With all the earlier troubles Hyundai/Kia had with oil filters a few years ago, some of the problem back then was that nitrile ADBV. All now have silicone.... even the el-cheapo NAPA Pro Select @ $3.49.

I bought one to try-out. I do not recommend Supertech 9688s for purchase, unless you like to gamble. Myself personally?..... I am the guy that can walk completely thru a major Casino and head over to the Dinner Buffet line and never touch a one-arm bandit along the way, and even back out to my parked vehicle.

Correct. The oil you use is far more important than the filter you use.

as noted on machinery lubrication oil filters are VERY IMPORTANT, but as many owners trade often trying to evade big out of warranty issues, a good reason to go VW 6 yrs 60 thou bumper to bumper , trade before expiration if you can afford it. only problem i had 60 thou on my 2001 jetta on way to 200 thou in 2 years working construction + driving a lot. thats when mpg's are most important!!

I always check the filter boxes to make sure it has the "correct" filter in it and I also check to make sure the security ring has not been broken. I'm seeing more K&N filters being swapped out. Some times the "replacement" filter is too tall for the K&N box
