Yes. Speculation that it's now part GTL, although under a GC a GTL may look just like a Group III+ so no one knows. It probably also contains mPAO and V base oils as well.

FWIW, that speculation is based entirely on the fact that GTL is listed as a percentage for the product in the MSDS now.

I know they were working on two. The one in Qatar was cancelled but I never heard that the other one was. However, I can't find any information on it at the present time

It provides very comparable performance to PAO at a far lower cost. It is made from natural gas, which is of course cheap and abundant.
 
I love this paragraph in another article:

Thomas Midgley, the inventor of Tetra Ethyl Lead (the highly toxic gasoline antiknock additive), at meetings with the press would frequently wash his hands in TEL and inhale its vapour to demonstrate just how safe it was.

Okay, so he got acute lead poisoning, but apart from that, it was totally safe!

Over on one of the Challenger forums there are a couple of threads discussing this topic. Prior to bankruptcy M1 0W40 was the recommended oil for the Chrysler 6.1L engines. After bankruptcy the recommended oil was initially Pennzoil 5W40 and once Pennzoil had a 0W40 the recommendation (not requirement) became PUP 0W40. The conversation is which is better, the new M1 0W40 or PUP 0W40 that is stuffed with moly. The current FCA (Chrysler) spec for use in the 6.2L supercharged engine and 6.4L engine is MS-12633. M1 0W40 does not claim to meet MS-12633 but I would be surprised if in reality it did not but the question is still, is either one (the new M1 0W40 or PUP 0W40) better than the other in the real world. One thing Pennzoil does not share is HTHS # whereas M1 does and the new stuff is a tad lower than previous formulation.

GTL stands for gas to liquid, where natural gas is converted to liquid hydrocarbons via a form of the Fischer-Tropsch process. The resulting liquid has very uniform chain lengths allowing the creation of oils with low volatility, high viscosity index, and high resistance to oxidation.
