It looks like the Lyriq will have to catch up to the Nissan Sentra also.

Misleading title. The sold out part is referring to the “Debut Edition” and it’s not clear how many of these are going to be available. Still plenty of other Lyriqs to be had, if you want one.

That baleen whale grill is gruesome.

I never understand why this makes news headlines.

They don't even know of Autopilot (Which is NOT full self driving, it's just cruise control with some steering assist) was active. Why is this a news story? If a Cadillac CT5 got in a crash, would they start blaming Super Cruise?

It makes headlines because Tesla is the biggest electric car manufacturer. It's the same thing for my work, I work for the largest trucking company in the world. We actually have fantastic safety ratings, but because we are leaps and bounds bigger than other trucking companies, we're the laughing stock when they see a truck is in a crash.

Becasue it sells newspapers. Or whatever the medium is...
Can anyone name a car company CEO besides Elon?

Kudos to Cadillac for taking on the challenge of being in competition with themselves or the ugliest front end on an SUV. The challenge was to surpass the hideousness of the latest Escalade. Mission accomplished.

I think part of that ugly look are the vertical lights on the corners. I see that on the Escalade too. I’m not sure what the designer is trying to do there.

I can’t. Maybe the others aren’t into entertainment and flying rockets to keep themselves known?? Usually a car CEO is as interesting to notice as seeing a picture of Gerald Ford on the wall.
Part of selling cars is designing them so the one you have looks like it’s out of fashion.

Mary Barra

Thing is, Elon Musk is more notable for his activities outside of Tesla and SpaceX:

Smoking weed with Joe Rogan
Naming his kid something completely absurd
Having a Twitter obsession that resulted in fraud charges levied by the SEC

My wife knows who Elon Musk is because the headline this week was that his wife doesn't identify as "mom"

The guy is a reality TV show away from being Kim Kardashian.

Somehow I have no doubt in their ability to do it.
These threads fascinate me. People love to cherry pick data to bash new technology, yet the NHTSA has shown that electric cars are actually slightly safer.
Bearing that in mind, I wonder what the motivations of the bashers are?!?

I believe you have it exactly backwards. Musk is known because he changed the world with his car company, his space company and other companies.
He made a fortune with Paypal and is one of the richest people in the world because of the companies he built.
That's why the media followes his every move.

Does your lady know Ms. Barra? How is her company doing, in compared the the most valuable car company in the world, by far?
Tesla is 8 times more valuable than GM and 13 times more valuable than Ford.
Not bad for a reality show guy...
Sorry; I really don't know anything about Ms. Kardishian. I see her name around, but nothing beyond that.
