Lumberton NC. Burger King

After awhile you think a person would learn I'll give you a clue they all suck! Lol

when Cookout is right there?
When we went to SC recently, our daughter wanted to stop and try Cookout (it was a quick-bite-to-eat stops, then back on the road). She heard about it on TikTok  as had my wife and son, so we tried it. It was .... okay. I definitely can't say "man, it was great, I want to get it again !".

Starbucks coffee is terrible every time. I do not buy the sugar laden multi ingredient garbage. Just black coffee. I have tried 4 different starbucks (4 visits total to starbucks) and each time found the coffee to be horrible and undrinkable. 4 times I have complained and got a refund. I simply stopped going there. Never again.

This is why I prefer Dollar General over fats food while on the road:

Now you know why you should never get Burger King tea Jim. Haha. I remember one time we were traveling around Richmond VA and there was a self service Burger King. It was self service because the employees didn’t even offer to do anything not even take the order. I don’t care for Burger King personally. McDonald’s and Wendy’s have the best fast food burgers.

Except for Whataburger, 5 Guys, Cookout, Checkers, DQ, Hardees/Carl's Jr, Sonic, and A&W.

Aside from those places.

For a cheap priced burger, Cookout is one of the best IMO. Our Cookout here did not suffer from the staff shortages, wait times, and altered hours...compared to some of the other fast food places. The "Cookout Tray" is a good deal. I remember when it first opened the tray was 3.99 plus tax.

Wife and I travel 74 to Oak Island a few times each year. We usually hit Cookout, Zaxbys or Smithfield's on the trip. Our stop is usually in either Rockingham or Laurinburg but we have stopped in Lumberton too.

My opinion Cookout is gross. I only go there for floats lol. I’d never eat a burger from Dairy Queen or Sonic. Hardee’s is pretty good when they are open… usually they close around 2pm here due to lack of staff. We don’t have an A&W or Checkers or Whataburger. Still not much beats a McDouble plain with only pickles and cheese I can eat four of them things cause they are so good. Son of Baconator is good as well. Five Guys isn’t fast food but they will only cook their burgers well done which is gross if I am eating at a burger joint I want it medium to medium rare.

While staying in a Fairfield Inn in the Lumberton area a few years back- stopped at a local sports bar for dinner. Guy next to me said either the county that Lumberton is in, or the county next to it, is one of the most deadliest counties (murders) in all of the USA.

I did not verify what he said..... but noted it ....... while traveling on I95 and stopping in the Lumberton area.

And through all my travels to most of the USA on a regular basis.... the one state I would never want to be on the wrong end of a situation is Missouri. In rural Missouri, unlike most other states.... if one is murdered.... no one, and I suggest no one, will talk about it.... ever....

That Burger King I went to is probably the reason

Had a great meal out last night at the Casino in St. Joseph MO. The icing on the cake was it was cheap, freshly prepared
And Delivered with a smile. The last item is rare these days. The pork tenderloin sandwich was so good I ate the whole thing. It was huge. Better too because we both took home some of the Casinos moo-lah.

A lot of trouble passes up and down I-95. My uncle managed a Days Inn about 2 hours north of Lumberton in Emporia, VA. He used to talk about all the crime and drugs that were prevalent in the area in the 90's. Apparently the area was kind of a meeting point for a lot of drug running at the time.

We have a Mel's Diner here in Lone Oak. Its off the beaten path but well worth finding. They have really good breakfasts and lunch and then they close around 2:30. Mel's omlet has 3 eggs and the Mel Burger is loaded with 1/2 lb of meat and cheese and jalapenos and tomato lettuce and mustard and comes with a big pile of great krinkle fries. Burger is about $6.00 and the omlet is about the same and comes with hash browns and biscuits and gravy. Have I made you hungry yet?

When we make the Florida trip down 95, Cracker Barrel was always a favorite. This past August we went down after not going for two years. We stopped for breakfast after driving all night and my son and I were very excited to have Cracker Barrel. We were completely disappointed. Favorite items missing from the menu, food clearly not as good…
We stopped again for dinner at another one. When we asked what was up they explained it was supply problems and every should go back to normal eventually.
I have a friend that LOVES Burger King. Eats it regularly. I can’t remember the last time I had it. There’s one in a gas station near my brother’s shop. Please.

I've pretty much eliminated Cracker Barrel from my list, most of their menu items have calorie counts that are jaw dropping. Most fast food places will run into 1500+ calories for a meal. Metro Diner has some items that are 3000+. I recently stopped at a Macdonald's on the NY State Thruway, a fish sandwich, medium fries and a drink were over $14, THAT is literally highway robbery. Since I retired from the hospital doing Biomedical field service for 105 outpatient sites and stopped eating fast food and eliminated sodas from my diet, I've lost over 35 pounds. It's very difficult to eat healthy and even sensibly on the road, possible, but difficult. 5 Guys is a calorie death trap.
