Lucus trans fix

I guess I'll do the filter. It's only got 50k but was thinking maybe it's clogged also

You're getting clues. What fluid does it use? A DEX Merc? Like dex VI? Then you could try Valvoline maxlife AKA multi-vehicle. I've been using it in the Escalade that calls for Dex vi. It's thin and performs really well in the cold. Readily available at Walmart. You can try blending a few quarts to thin it out. See what happens.

It calls for dex 111, I have maxlife in it now and 1 bottle of lucus. I had redline D4 in it for 50k .before it started slipping.
Maxlife is dev v1.
I'm thinking back to a dex/merc fluid maybe and do filter this time. I just did a few drain and fills with maxlife before.

Well Lucus was a waste.
Worse when cold.
Once it warms up it's better but car won't hardly move when cold

I was about to post that while it might bandaid slipping when hot... I'd have to let the trans warm up for a long time before leaving my driveway in the winter if I had it in there.

Reminds me of a manager of mine when I worked at McDonald's back in highschool...he did laps in the parking lot in reverse in his 91ish explorer to warm up the bad transmission before heading out on the road (I saw so many of those explorers with bad transmissions working at the ford dealer). He must have had Lucas in it lol.

I think that is a wise choice...Maxlife works great in cars that call for Dex VI or other LV fluids but sometimes has issues in cars that call for Dex III. I would start with the filter (as mentioned above) and supertech or some other budget ATF designed for Dex III.
